‘Bring to the Surface’ is a photographic response to plastic pollution in our oceans. This design brings to light the significant impact plastic is having on the environment and native fish species of New Zealand.


‘Bring to the Surface’ encapsulates the idea of bringing awareness to the public eye. The use of the Maori proverb illustrates the importance of Maori values in New Zealand society and protecting our native flora and fauna. This specific proverb translates to, “you can not make the same mistake twice.” Communicating the importance of sustaining our oceans and looking after our planet.
